Series P1 of the University of Florida Archives Presidential Collections consists of files and policy manuals created in the Office of the President to manage statements and memoranda regarding University policy and to provide documentation of University responses to specific ongoing issues and concerns. Among the topics discussed are patent policies, admissions policies, student and faculty affairs, the University's participation in the Southern Regional Education Board, and relations with the City of Gainesville. The series also includes a folder entitled "historical data" containing information on the history of the university, many of the colleges and divisions, and a few campus organizations.

The original campus plans for the University of Florida at Gainesville were developed by the firm of Edwards & Walter. Edwards & Walter were contracted to design and layout the campus buildings in 1905. Additional plans were developed by the firm's successor, Edward and Sayward.
